to be released 15 May 2023. " The disc contents of A Box Named Frank (but without the accompanying booklet and reference book) were reissued by Network by popular demand as Public Eye: Complete Surviving Episodes Collection on Monday 15 May 2023. Because the boxed sets duplicate the exact disc contents of The ABC Years and The Complete 1969 Series, Nobody Kills Santa Claus appears twice in each collection." missingmarkers.weebly.com/series-1---ep-2---guide.html (Quoted from the Production Notes section).

Pity it hasn’t got the Andrew Pixley book, but it’s worth it even without it.

Pity it hasn’t got the Andrew Pixley book, but it’s worth it even without it. It's definitely worth buying if you've never owned these episodes before. But these are the same episodes (picture quality wise) that were released on the original DVD's and later reissued on A Box Called Frank with no further restoration. I see no point in buying them again especially as I spent around £130 on the original DVD's.

More if anyone doesn’t have anything and feels inspired by threads like this.

Looking at the Wikipedia entry for VidFIRE we have the following: The Doctor Who Restoration Team routinely VidFIREs 1960s episodes of Doctor Who when preparing them for release on DVD. The process has also been applied to a number of other programmes, including two previously lost episodes of the BBC sitcom Dad's Army, which were rediscovered in 2001. The episodes, "Operation Kilt" and "The Battle of Godfrey's Cottage," were VidFIREd in preparation for their broadcast as part of a "Dad's Army evening" on BBC Two. The remainder of series one and two of Dad's Army was later processed and released on DVD. Episodes of Sykes and Public Eye have also been treated for DVD. So which episodes of Public Eye have been VidFIREd?

This is done on a painstaking frame-by-frame basis."

I can't answer your question with absolute certainty but see the DVD restoration feature on Series 4 of Public Eye - it sounds like what is described above.

I guess, given Network’s demise, this is either impossible to get or attracting extortionate prices. I hope anyone thinking of getting it did so before the end of Network.

This is still available on Amazon for £99.00 - apparently 50 have been sold in the past month. A Box Called Frank is also still available for £260.00 !!!

Blimey I bought that A Box Called Frank set a few years ago during one of Network's many sales. It's still in it's wrapper. Dunno whether to ever open it or keep it as an investment now.
