THE THREE DOCTORS - 25/11/2022. The third serial in my ongoing celebration of the anniversary and my EIGHT FACES OF DOCTOR WHO season of adventures. I swear, these old serials just get better and better with repeated viewing. They feel less like adventures and more like spending time with old friends. 5/5. For me, The Three Doctors is easily the best of the multi-Doctor stories.

You've summed up very succinctly how I feel about the old stories as well.

Both are heaped in nostalgia for me though.

I think you're right about the nostalgia element- I distinctly remember watching The Three Doctors and reading the Target novelization when I was just a young 'un but by the time The Five Doctors came along, I was in my twenties, and no longer into Doctor Who (or any kind of Sci Fi). I didn't actually see the The Five Doctors* in its entirety until many years later, on VHS. Strange to think that in 30/40 years' time, middle aged men are going to get all misty eyed and nostalgic about 'Orphan 55' ... ( *I have a great fondness for The Five Doctors and The Two Doctors, as well).

THE SUN MAKERS - 27/11/2022
The fourth serial in my ongoing celebration of the anniversary and my EIGHT FACES OF DOCTOR WHO season of adventures.
Another serial I've always enjoyed. It has a good mix of action, adventure, humour and tension.
5/5.

'The Time Meddler' - The Watcher and The Meddling Monk episodes. I never tire of watching Hartnell (even though he's not even in the second episode!). My wife thinks the First Doctor is like an eccentric character from a Dickens novel (whereas she thinks the modern variety are more like pop stars). Who am I to argue?

THE FIVE DOCTORS - 28/11/2022.
The fifth serial in my ongoing celebration of the anniversary. And how could I complete my EIGHT FACES OF DOCTOR WHO season of adventures without it?
I gave the original TV version of this story 4/5, but as this is the special edition, I'll give it the full...
5/5.

VENGEANCE ON VAROS - 29/11/2022. The sixth serial in my ongoing celebration of the anniversary... and a story I've only seen two or maybe three times since its original broadcast back in the mid-1980s. I've never been particularly fond of this serial, but as it's been about 35 years since I last saw it, I thought it was time to give it a fresh look and possibly reappraise it. As a result, I've increased its previous score of 2/5 up to 3/5... I must be going soft in my old-age.

I haven't watched it since 2018 and I thought that felt like quite a long time, lol.

You put something off for a couple of days and suddenly it's a couple of centuries decades later.

It is 2 episodes too long i think we can all agree? I can now start to indulge in the whole DVD collection. Regards HGL.

The Web Of Fear - 7th story in my winter re-watch.
So I tried to resist watching this one but temptation got the better of me. It's within my top 5 favourite classic Doctor Who stories of all time, and I just love it.
The underground tunnels are brilliantly done, and the whole claustrophobic feel throughout all 6 episodes is wonderful. I love Jack Woolgar as Sergeant Arnold.
I'll never forget, almost 10 years ago, when I re-watched episode 1 and then was able to go straight into episode 2 for the very first time!!!! Honestly thought I was dreaming. And then to be able to watch those final three episodes. Incredible.
Now just to find episode 3, eh.
10 out of 10.

THE GREATEST SHOW IN THE GALAXY - 04/12/2022.
The seventh serial in my ongoing celebration of the anniversary... and another story I've haven't seen all that often. Perhaps only four or maybe five times since its original broadcast back in the mid-1980s...?
It was another serial that I've never been particularly fond of, but after all this time, while it's still not a favourite of mine, I don't dislike it as much as I used to.
3/5.

DOCTOR WHO - 04/12/2022.
The eighth and final serial in my ongoing anniversary celebration. It also means I've completed my EIGHT FACES OF DOCTOR WHO season of adventures...
It took me a long time to come to accept this serial in my hearts-of-hearts - see what I did there? - but I think the journey is now complete. While I've always liked many aspects of the story, it just didn't quite come together as a unified whole for me. However, on my most recent viewing, I finally found myself enjoying it without any doubts or hesitations. The only thing I still bitterly regret is not getting the chance to see the eighth Doctor get his own fully fledged TV series...
As a result, I've increased its previous score of 3/5 up to 4/5... Perhaps I'm going soft in my old-age, or perhaps this is just a side-affect of having to tolerate New Who for so long?
