Seems like they inhaled the new who cool aid. It’s called the Three Doctors for a reason and it’s one of my all time favourites.

What are they talking about? "Wouldn't it have been been fascinating if they cast a future Doctor" What a stupid comment. Are they not aware that this is the first time that a multiple Doctor story had taken place? 'The Three Doctors' was revolutionary at the time. See it for what it is, and judge it by 1973 Doctor Who standards! At the time this in itself was a mind-blowing concept. And this was broadcast at a time when these 3 Doctors were the only Doctors, when the timeline actually made sense and we could understand it, not part of a bastardised and nonsensical Jo Martin era.

I love Jon as the Doctor. But seeing Troughton stroll back in and imo basically steal the show back right from under Pertwee's "mighty nose" was just awesome. Troughton just feels more like the "real" Doctor than Pertwee.
Whenever I watch Pertwee's runs, it always seems to me his outward personality was partly a construct of the Time Lords, that when they regenerated him against his will, they tried to make him more of a "proper" Time Lord than he was. Except, it didn't work.
After he gets his memory back and is able to travel at will again, he begins to seem more like his old self, although not all of the later stories were that good. "The Time Warrior", however, to me, is Pertwee at his very best.
In "The Five Doctors", the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Doctors ALL stole the show from the 5th. I always thought that one should have been a 6-parter, not a 4-parter (never mind that it was shown as "1-parter", heh). Too many characters and NONE of them get enough screen-time.

I mostly agree. I prefer Troughton's character over Pertwee's, but story-wise, I enjoy the Third Doctor era more.

The Gel Guards are still crap (but no more embarrassing than a lot of 70’s Who, it’s part of its charm).and it’s almost criminal the Brigadier is portrayed as thicker than your average contestant on Tipping Point, but what’s this future Doctor nonsense?
And unlike most of the Pertwee era the acting from the guest cast isn’t utter crap.

I always liked this picture of the blobby guards from the back cover of The Three Doctors Target book. They look as if they're talking about the Second Doctor behind his back...
