A spin-off thread can be found here for "The Adventure Game" (1980-1986). Another fondly remembered series. I *HAD* to buy the DVD box set of this series as soon as it came out. Had such vivid but strange recollections of this series from when I was a kid, but couldn't work out if it was real or if i'd dreamt it all up. Brilliant series, even more odd and quirky than I'd remembered it.

"New Faces" (1973-1988)IMDBWikipediaI remember this mainly for how brutally honest one of the judges - Tony Hatch - could be - and he often got booed. Suspect that he was the only one levelling with the acts about their genuine chances in the business though? The series was revived, of course, with Marti Caine hosting it, between 1986 and 1988. Anyway, here's the original theme tune... You're A Star - Carl Wayne (theme from New Faces) FULL THEMEThere are some scattered episodes available on Youtube Benny Hill had to send it up, of course... One of my all-time favourite films is "Quiz Show" (1994), based on the very real scandal swirling around the show "Twenty One" - in which the contestants were revealed to already know the answers to the questions in advance..... Am not sure how many episodes of this quiz show have survived, but - as per usual - the archive for it is in a shocking state... KALEIDOSCOPE’S TV BRAINWikipediaDouble Your Money with Hughie Green - first episode

Have been watching a fair few episodes of the darts game show "Bullseye" that have been airing lately. Must admit, it's all too easy to finish one episode and watch the next one. I do wonder, while watching, how many of the contestants and audience are alive. Sadly the host - Jim Bowen - and I think even the guy who yelled "Iiiinn one!" have left us. And the "gamble" at the end can sometimes be still a bit of a nerve wracking moment, even several decades after the orginal broadcast - even though the star prize has probably rusted to junk or sunk at sea since then. Was reminded about this show the other day, by someone claiming that it was decimated in the archives and certain episodes posted on Youtube turned out to be missing ones. Not sure as to the accuracy of it's archive status - but I do remember the show. Gambit 1981 UK Game show Anglia TV presented by Fred DinenageGambit UK (1981)

You can't beat a bit o' Bully! Love watching old classic game shows. I was gonna say I don't know why I find them so appealing, but clearly I do. It's again, the nostalgia. Simple sets with prizes which look pretty tacky now but would've had my eyes on stalks when I was a kid (for example, oh my God, a front-loading video player!!!!!). You could still win a good amount, and you had great hosts like Jim Bowen. I think Tony Green is still with us Cyggy, hopefully in good health. Sadly he died earlier this year.
