Grew up thinking this was a right load of old cobblers, thanks to the likes of Jeremy Bentham who wrote Doctor Who Weekly/Monthly's early articles and then slammed it unmercifully in the Peter Haining "20 Years: A Celebration" book. But since finally seeing it on VHS I have to agree with what a lot of folks seem to think now in that it's great fun. And Hartnell is clearly loving it.

Loving these pics Channing. Never seen these before.
Seeing Jackie Lane in that second picture, do we have any idea when she was told that she wasn't going to be sticking around?
I mean, The War Machines was only two stories away, so would she have known by the time of this rehearsal?

Her final day of filming was the recording of episode two of The War Machines on 17 June 1966." tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Jackie_Lane

The Gunfighters 8/10
Probably the best story script wise of the Dodo Chaplet era and Jackie Lane's best performance as well IMO.

I think I would have liked a dramatic ending. My farewell was a bit of an anti-climax. Still, I got my revenge. I now run a voice-over agency and Innes Lloyd once asked me to find him work. I reminded him that he had once sacked me from Doctor Who and said a very firm no."
