Some bits 'n' bobs about ol' Davo then. Always have a laugh when I see him in that blonde curly wig and blue pants from The Tomorrow People. Also had a chuckle at him on the front of the All Creatures Great and Small tank top knitting pattern thing, hadn't seen that before. And I didn't know his old man was a mixed race chap from Guyana either. 10 Astonishing Things You Should Know About Peter Davison

I didn't mind ol' Davo as the Doctor really. Certainly thought he was a much better actor (and Doctor) than either Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy were. Looking back at his era, I think it wasn't bad (quite good in places actually) it's just tinged overall with a sense of disappointment for me. He got lumped with some rather irritating and naff companions and had some really bland, run of the mill type stories. It's a shame he never hung around for a fourth series.

Bit blurry this but still brings back some memories. The amount of times I waited and watched between shows on the BBC during Christmas 1981 just to catch a glimpse of ol' Davo & Co. in this advert thingy. Lol at him obscuring Matthew Waterhouse's mush with his hat.

So like, the other day on me FaceBook Newsfeed doings this here article popped up: The Weekly Dalek #64. I'd completely forgotten about ol' Davo making one of his first public appearances clad in his Fifth Doctor garb on a float with some monsters at The Lord Mayor's Show in November 1981. I remember missing out on seeing this on the telly. I must've been out on me Grifter or something. I was gutted at the time lol. News, pics and stuff on the new Doctor seemed thin on the ground back then, well compared to how it is these days. DWAS Lord Mayor's Show 1981

I remember seeing this at the time and recall how disappointed I was that ol' Davo was chucking it in so soon. I dunno, just thought he'd stick around for 4 or 5 years.

Looked like ol' Davo really enjoyed eating that bacon flavoured hard boiled egg here...

I remember that we already knew he was leaving and that Colin was going to be the Doctor quite some time before "The Five Doctors" in 1983 - and he had only started in Jan 1982 on screen! So yes it did seem as if he was barely around at the time, especially after Tom's long run. How lucky he was to get a story like "Caves" as his finale though. At least he left on a high.
