When 'Blake's 7' started, I already knew Gareth Thomas from this. Oddly he plays a character whose surname is Brake. I am sorry, but there must be a cosmic influence at work there. Just one letter shy. That is too much of a coincidence for me. The eerie and haunting opening credits and theme - similar to, but even more spooky than the Wookey Hole opening credits of "Into the Labyrinth" stuck with me. As did the eerie chant that the villagers are all singing as the tale progresses to it's final episodes. Just really well done. Freddie Jones as a bag of nerves village idiot type. And Ian Cuthbertson as a menacing head of the community, a la Christopher Lee in "The Wicker Man". There has since been a sequel book set years later along with a republished novelisation of the TV show, but must confess I have not read either.....

I loved this series when I was a kid. I was about 8 when it first aired. Freaked me out no-end, more so than Who ever did I think. Weird, eerie music and those stones that seemed to be shot at strange camera angles. Very atmospheric and creepy. Quite disconcerting to watch. I got the DVD quite a few years back, it didn't disappoint. It was just as I remembered it. This popped up some time ago on me Facebook Newsfeed, a little BBC Radio Four programme about the series first broadcast around 2013 I think.

I think I watched the first episode when it first aired, but it scared me too much to carry on watching it. I got the dvd years ago, and yeah, it's a great miniseries. Bags of atmosphere, and that 70's vibe that tends to hit my nostalgia button regardless of whether I had watched the show in the 70's or not.
I started to listen to a new BBC Radio adaptation, but didn't like the updates.

I’ve got this somewhere.
Like a lot of stuff I haven’t watched it and I don’t remember it from when it was first on (I’m not even sure it was shown here).

Missed it first time round as I was too old and working in any case. Kind of knew about it from a trailor or something but only just watched it tonight all through!!!! Tghe episodes seemed incredibly short, so either I was hooked into the story or the titles take too much time lol!
Got to say I loved it and it wouldn't be done this way now - probably edited heavily into two twenty five minute episodes and speeded up to make you breathless!
