Destiny of the Daleks - Season 17 – Story 104
"There is much to be done. You must tell me of all the victories the Daleks have won whilst I have slept. And all the defeats. I shall learn from your mistakes. The Daleks shall be made into perfect creatures" - Davros

Rather fond of Destiny for some reason. Yeah, the Romana regeneration scene's a bit silly, the Daleks looked well shabby, Gooderson's Davros sadly isn't a patch on Wisher's and the Movellans look like disco-rasta dance troupe rejects but there's a sort of pervading sombre, downbeat quality to it all that I like.

Watched this again recently and it hasn’t got any better IMHO.
Still rather dull, cheap looking and ponderous. Such a sad exit from the series for Terry Nation.

I loved the slow, two episode build up to revealing that it's all about finding Davros. Loved his returning to life, covered in cobwebs too. Yes, disappointed that his voice didn't match the "Genesis of the Daleks" vinyl LP that I was playing religiously at that time, but I really grew to love the novelisation.

Odd that most fans seemed to long blame Adams for Romana's frivolous regeneration scene, when it sounds more Nation's doing. Personally my only issue with that scene is how painfully stilted it was. But fortunately once it's out the way a nice pace and momentum kicks in.
I must say, for all this one's flaws (an annoying cartoonish Davros, Daleks looking wobbly and worse for wear) I do often find it a delight to watch.
First time watch it was a little bit of a disappointment compared to the more exciting novelization (the hostages scene in the book certainly didn't come off so apathetic), but I did always love the atmosphere of Skaro, and Tom and Lalla being particularly kick-ass here.
It's as pulp as the show gets, but I'll always have some strange soft spot for that, and frankly I could've lived with the Dalek saga coming to a neat close here.
I'll give this a 7.
Btw, I made this music video for it that I'm quite proud of
