"Colourisation of one of the Evening Standard photos that recently turned up: Tom Baker & the TARDIS in TC3 on Tue 17th December 1974 for Part Four of 'Revenge of the Cybermen'. I think the Vogan Guildroom set is being built on the left." Clayton Hickman - twitter

This story was one of the first two Dr Who video's I ever bought (on VHS along with a Betamax of 'Morbius') on a visit to the Longleat exhibition and I shudder to think how much they cost, looking back forty plus years. I also splashed out on the LP release of 'Genesis.' Thus started a journey of collection costing many hundreds of pounds and currently ending with the DVD releases, at least for now.
This is another which, to me at least, seemed more childish in presentation, the irritating cybergun sound and with lots of running around. Compared to the Cybermen of much of the 60's, these were a joke to me, prancing around hands on hips and with an odd vocal delivery that was stilted but not convincing I thought. Watching it now, I'm sorry chaps but I'm still not convinced..

Well despite it's faults, I've always enjoyed Revenge and found it fun. I much prefer this guy's video Doctor Who MEMORIES: Revenge of the CybermenHope he doesn't mind me posting it here.

This might be my favorite Cybermen story, simply on the basis that it was the first one I ever saw.
It was a bit infuriating, though, how Philly's PBS station Channel 12 shuffled the stories between May 1979 and January 1980. The example I remember was the first 3 stories they ran...
Robot The Sontoran Experiment Revenge of the Cybermen
You can see how STUPID this is-- I saw Revenge of the Cybermen BEFORE The Ark In Space... or Genesis of the Daleks, for that matter. When I think back on it, I sometimes think those people didn't deserve the support money subscribers like me were sending them.
This was probably the most memorable story I'd seen Jeremy Wilkin in. The previous year, I'd seen him in THE NEW AVENGERS episode "House Of Cards" (possibly my favorite episode of that series), and much later I became aware he was in several episodes of UFO as part of the submarine crew. Although he was scheming to destroy The Cybermen, the WAY he went about it made him such a complete BASTARD. Apparently, he was hoping for a huge payoff in gold, and didn't care if nearly every single person on Nerva Beacon had to get killed first. It was so twisted how the Vogans were split into 2 factions, one that wanted to hide from the Cybermen, the other who wanted them destroyed, but put everyone on Voga in danger in the process.
