Found the use of the word "shame" as a swear word very silly.
Am glad that they didn't kill off the Brig as originally planned.
Am not sure how I feel about the Doctor as Merlin.
I liked the scene of Morgaine restoring the woman's sight.
Found Sylvester's "THERE WILL BE NO BATTLE HERE!!!!!" scene cringeworthy. I just don't think that kind of shouting suits his Doctor.
Overall found the whole 'knights clanking around in fields' scenario a bit meh!

I quite like Battlefield, I know it's self-indulgent mess but I love the guest cast, especially Jean Marsh and there is a lot of nice of location work.
7.5/10

"All over the world, fools are poised ready to let death fly"
I really rather like Battlefield and it's clever blending of Arthurian legend and Sci Fi. Episode 1 rattles along at a fair old pace and is so full of wild ideas -interdimensional knights, Morgaine the witch queen (played by the wonderful Jean Marsh), archaeological sites, the Brigadier and his wife Doris, the nuclear convoy, the new Brigadier Bambera (played by the wonderful Angela Bruce), the return of Bessie, the reveal that the Doctor is/was/will be Merlin, etc. McCoy is fun and funny in this (my favourite scene is when he walks into the hotel bar in the morning and wakes up Bambera and Ancelyn by blowing up a crisp packet, popping it, and then casually walking back out again). Seeing Ace emerge from the lake with Excalibur was also a treat.
However, like much of the McCoy era, it looks rather cheap and tatty and over-lit, while the design of the Knights should have been a bit more futuristic and a touch less Medieval, but you can't have everything. The Destroyer doesn't really do much but looks very impressive (I'm very proud to own a cool Eaglemoss Destroyer figurine). 8/10

Yeah, this one has stood repeated watching, albeit years apart Like it a lot more than the confused vibes on first watching. Great to see some much loved faces back in the story and I'm sure Nick Courtney and Jean Marsh had some catching up to do since the Masterplan times of the mid 60s. Just about to start on the extras
