A great little two-parter. Filming it entirely on location really adds something, I think.
Ian Marter's novelisation is an expanded gem too - with Styr's oily breath, Harry thinking of him as Humpty Dumpty, etc. But the TV version is so well done in it's own right that - for once - I am not favouring the book over the TV version.
And Kevin remains the ultimate Sontaran imo. I don't think anyone will ever better his performance.

"The alien let him go. You understand? Vural's hooked."
One of the more underrated Doctor Who stories, nothing much wrong with it apart from a dodgy robot and the slightly weak "brinkmanship" ending.
Perhaps the best Sontaran costume and mask ever to feature in the show?
8/10

I remember thinking at the end of part one that's Linx and he survived just before Sarah said his name! I also recall the Friday night compilation repeat in 1976 with Planet of Evil one episode a night, Monday to Thursday! What a great week that was and it's sad that we rarely ever got repeats in this country yet in Australia it was on all the time for years!!! JB

Not a bad little story really. Can't find much wrong with it though I will say I much preferred the mask they used for Linx.

This was the 2nd Tom Baker story I ever saw, because Philly's PBS station Channel 12 scrambled the running order the first 8 months.
Part 2 (the 6th Tom Baker episode), was the night I found myself FALLING IN LOVE with Sarah Jane. That lasted a LONG time.
