Have always liked this story.
I remember seeing Terrance saying how the Baker Boys were wildly imaginative and it shows here. I love the alien-ness of the Axons.
Never saw it until it was released on VHS - and thus had to go through the usual thing of making adjustments to it not quite being the (hugely budgeted) story I had in my head after reading Terry's novelisation - and that Filer looked nothing remotely like James Bond!
Once that was done though I could appreciate it on it's own terms. And I love the callous way that Pertwee plays out his seeming betrayal of his friends for the Master's benefit.

It's a bit bonkers and a lot of fun. Love the Spaghetti monsters.

The Axon people and spaghetti monsters are a very effective adversary for the Doctor.
Shame that the Chinn and Pigbin Josh charactors are so silly.
And no real need for the Master to be in it at all really.
8/10

This story is daft as a brush but it’s brilliant.
They really did need to bring back the Axons and Bill Filer.

"All things must die, Doctor: mankind, this planet. Axonite merely hastens the process"
The Claws of Axos - a gaudy, trippy, spaced-out adventure that has absolutely everything you'd expect from a Third Doctor serial - the Brigadier, Captain Yates and Sergeant Benton, the conniving Master, an alien invasion of the home counties, Jo's colourful fashion sense, a bonkers electronic score, Action by Havoc!, technical boffins and stuffy politicians, and the Doctor clashing with authority figures while having to deal with a mad, weird cosmic threat - all rounded-off with a clever, timey-wimey resolution.
As a kid I loved that this story featured gold-skinned, androgynous aliens who were really hideous, misshapen monsters. And at four episodes in length, this fondly-remembered tale does not outstay it's welcome. Perfect Pertwee.
** NB I recently re-watched it and upgraded the score to 9/10.

Funnily enough, always wondered if Christopher Walken was related to an Axon...
