I love Bessie, a reminder of childhood fun. I prefer her to the Whomobile.. I've got 2 versions of the Corgi toy, that came out in the early 2000's. The one that came with a copy of the Three Doctors DVD and one with a Tom Baker figure driving it. I was really annoyed that they stuck Tom Baker in it. Though he used Bessie in his first story, she was more connected with Perters. Would it have cost too much, to make a Perters figure? Corgi are swines...

I'm not really a car person - I never had Matchbox or Dinky toys as a kid, I don't think the Batmobile is cool and I've never wanted to drive or own a vehicle of my own but saying that - I do adore Bessie! I like the car because it's ridiculously old fashioned and ties in with the Doctor's love of Edwardian clothes and style, and general vintage eccentricity (though sadly, all that seems to have been jettisoned in the modern series). My Corgi version also came from The Three Doctor's DVD that was released in 2003. Bessie got her own, one-off audio drama in 2021 in 'Bessie Come Home' by Paul Magrs, part of the 'Beyond The Doctor' range. I know it may sound ridiculous - a story told from the point of view of an old car - but it really is fun, especially if you have a particular fondness for the Pertwee years.

Could never understand why Corgi had Tom in his 18th season garb driving it and not what he wore in Robot.
