Couldn't really believe that this was the end of 'Doctor Who' as I knew it - but it was imo.
I wanted to believe in all the attempted revivals since, in print, on audio and that 2005 thing, but none of them have come up to the original 26 years for me.
And have no time for the Big Finish stuff trying to cram stories in between the TV Stories using Classic Who cast either, especially when they are daring to recast Jon Pertwee and the like!
No, am happy with the memories of the stories we got on the telly - and the Target Books too.
As a final outing it's an intriguing enough tale. Always thought it odd/ironic though that the last ever Classic Who story should be called "Survival".
A very appropriate end speech too as Ace and the Doctor walk off into the sunset.

DOCTOR: There are worlds out there where the sky is burning, where the sea's asleep, and the rivers dream. People made of smoke, and cities made of song. Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, and somewhere else the tea's getting cold. Come on, Ace, we've got work to do!

Anthony Ainley's best performance as the Master.
A strong story to end the classic run on, though it looks like it was made with even less money than usual.

I always enjoy watching Survival - the Cheetah People, Ainley's Master, Ace's odd friends, the creepy atmosphere of Perivale on a Sunday and even Hale and Pace selling cat food (cool Dominic Glynn soundtrack, too). However, I don't like how Survival now seems to be used as an example of Classic Doctor Who being the same as the BBC Wales reboot series (or that the old show was inevitably evolving into something distinctly NuWho-ish):
"..there is also an idea floating about, that the old series and the new are somehow very different. Well, let's deal with that one right now. Go and watch Survival, the very last show of the classic series, back to back with Rose, the very first show of the revival. Both beautifully written and directed, and both indisputably the same show. As it always has been. As, I hope, it always will be..." Steven Moffat, 2013
If you notice, Moffat doesn't actually say how or why Survival and Rose are connected or how they resemble each other - just that they're both 'beautifully written', but there's nothing 'indisputable' about it. Although a lot of Survival features a modern, urban setting, it's too weird, too surreal and too allegorical to be placed alongside plain old Rose, with it's everyday, soap-opera ordinariness.
