Loved it then and love it now. Linx actor 'does' Sontarans best, the current crap severely diluted as usual!

The Doctor: Look, will you excuse me? I've got to go and find a young girl. I'll see you later, I hope. Professor Rubeish: Young girl? I should have thought he was a bit old for that sort of thing. I did a cartoon with something like that in it:
"Still travelling around with young girls? Shouldn't you be in a retirement home by now?"
The irony being, the villain who said that was the same age as the hero.
WARNING: nudity involved.

My first Sarah story was "Robot". Season 11 did not get to America until 1984 (I think). When it did, "The Time Warrior" instantly became one of my favorite stories in the entire series.
It had been a year since The Doctor got back his memory and ability to control the TARDIS (to a degree, heh), and while Jon Pertwee's Doctor has justifiably started out with a HUGE chip on his shoulder and deep resentment for being stuck on Earth and at the whims of The Time Lords (or, the Celestial Intervention Agency at any rate), by this time, he was far more relaxed, laid-back, happy. In effect, the "real" Doctor's personality had finally come out again. This story may be the closest Pertwee ever got to feeling like Patrick Troughton's Doctor (or William Hartnell in his later stories).
I'll never know how I might have reacted to Sarah if this had been my first exposure to her. As it is, it became one of my favorite stories with her. This is despite HER have a "feminist" chip on HER shoulder. I always find it hilarious that The Doctor liked her IMMEDIATELY (clearly he saw a kindred spirit in her), but she mistook his friendly kidding for sexist attitude. And then she took it further by mistaking HIM for the bad guy!
I don't think she ever looked prettier than she does in this story.
In the next story, "Invasion of the Dinosaurs", there's a point where Sarah goes off on her own to investigate. Finding her gone without explanation, The Doctor says... "You know, sometimes that girl BAFFLES me!" I thought, NOW he knows how The Brigadier feels about HIM. Heh. They really made a great team. (I could have done with the 3-1/2 solid years of "gothic horror", however, once Tom Baker arrived.)

It’s one of those classics that I enjoy watching again and again. Some great characters in it too.
Linx, Irongron, Bloodaxe, Professor Rubeish. It’s also a great introduction to Sarah Jane Smith.

Agreed - The Time Warrior is one of my favourite Third Doctor serials. Irongron gets all the best lines: "By the stars, Bloodaxe, I swear I'll chop him up so fine not even a sparrow will fill its beak at one peck".
