Just one of the best Pertwee's imo. And love the alternative versions of the familiar characters too. Heard a (daft?) fan theory that the Big Brother type on the poster is this alternative universe's version of the Doctor, but my brain will explode if I dwell on it too much. A 10 for me.
There is a real unnerving atmosphere to this one, and certainly something to be said for the way the alternate characters in it are forced to accept their mortality on a doomed Earth. The moment the Doctor deduces that both versions of Liz are the result of a choice each made as a student on exam day, really blows out the water the lie that classic Who was inferior to RTD's version when it came to fully-fledged characterization.
It is a grim story indeed that takes what could've been a novelty idea of evil doppelgangers and does it with enough conviction to make the concept genuinely frightening. Add the clock ticking to doomsday and you have a story that terrified me to watch even at the age of 18.
I don't think that's ever been beat.
