I really like Vicki, part of the fab four Tardis team that helped to make mediocre or slow placed scripts so watchable in Season 2.
I would have liked to have seen a whole season of Vicki and Steven as well - Maureen O' Brien could only have had enhanced the stories from The Ark through to The War Machines. But how do you include Vicki in DMP or The Massacre? I can do without Katerina's death scene, but the deaths of Sara Kingdom and Anne Chaplet (probably) were essential to the dramatic impact of those stories.

Probably the final time we will see Maureen playing the role in this (canonical?) coda to Vicki's tale..... Sad that we can never see one for Dodo now though.

Since 1985 or so, I've always liked "Vicki" way more than "Susan". It's questionable how much of this is down to the actor, or the writing. Carole Ann Ford left the show after one season because she felt they lied to her about the potential of her character, and never gave her enough to do. Maureen O'Brien just seemed to have more personality from the beginning, and made stories like "The Romans", "The Space Museum" or "The Time Meddler" more fun than they had a right to be. In her case, I have to blame Verity Lambert's replacement for Vicki being kicked off the show abruptly.
I'm just reminded, I actually met Carole Ann Ford once briefly, at a "luncheon" event they had at a convention in New Brunswick (I think). She sat at our table for a few minutes... but I couldn't think of anything to say!
