And yes there are halfwits who automatically give stuff a 10 too. it may come as a complete surprise because they don't post reviews either.
I think it's called fandom.

"Everyone knows how much i hate The Time Monster and it's sort of become my schtick."Yes, we get it, but strange as it may seem, some of us love that particular 3rd Doctor serial. Personally, I find it incomprehensible how anyone could, for example, like Jodie or Ncuti as the Doctor, but I know there are fans who genuinely do, so I'm happy for them. "I know i'm turning into a grumpy old bastard in my old age but i think at least some of it is justified"Aging is inevitable, but getting old is a choice.

The Time Monster is better than most of the entire Chibnall era, but that doesn’t make it good.
And I agree, I’m happy for people to love The Time Monster, as long as they can articulate the reasons why. The same as anything really.

"The Time Monster is better than most of the entire Chibnall era, but that doesn’t make it good".Yes, I mostly agree. I'm sure The Time Monster is better than the recent stuff as well, but I can't comment (or give a score) because I've only seen The Star Beast and Space Babies and both were flipping awful - so bad in fact, that I think I actually preferred some of the Jodie episodes, God help me. "as long as they can articulate the reasons why"Some people want to vote for an episode/serial without having to provide an explanation for their scoring - surely that's their right? Personally, I love articulating my feelings about the things I like. For instance, here's the main reason why I enjoy The Time Monster so much...

People have a perfect right to award something 0/10 if they think it deserves it. I got a real laugh when I did a review of a film that polarizes opinions so much it tends to either get 1 of 10, or 10 or 10. I gave it a 3!! LEGEND OF THE ROLLER BLADE SEVEN. Check out those reviews-- or even, just the review titles!

I've been a fan of Ingrid Pitt ever since the summer of 1971, when I saw THE HOUSE THAT DRIPPED BLOOD on a big screen.
I somehow didn't get around to seeing THE VAMPIRE LOVERS until I rented it and made a copy in the early 90s.
When I met her for the 2nd time at a Chiller Theatre convention in NJ in October 1996, (both times were surprises, I had no idea she'd be there either time), I had a wonderful chat with her. At one point, I told her about a story idea I had where I based a character on her, which I came up with years before I met her the first time. She seemed to like it. Just early this year, I finally got around to writing the finished version of that, as one chapter of a huge novel I'm working on, about a character's time in college. Among so many wonderful chapters and characters and incidents, the chapter with Ingrid is one of my favorites.
I often write characters with accents, but I had difficulty doing that for the most part with her. But when I read the thing over the phone to my best friend, I had NO trouble reading her dialogue in her accent.
When she's caught out on doing something underhanded, she says...
"I'm afraid it's true. I hope you don't mind too much."
You'd have to know the full story to get why that line is SO DAMNED FUNNY.

It's very cool that you met Miss Pitt and chatted with her. I never did, but I saw her from a distance at a Forbidden Planet book signing, many moons ago. I assume you've read the book, Life's a Scream: Autobiography of Ingrid Pitt (1999)?

I assume you've read the book, Life's a Scream: Autobiography of Ingrid Pitt (1999)? I probably should have. Only so much to focus on at any one time...
It's nuts. I went to my 1st Chiller in 1992, hoping to see Caroline Munro. She had to cancel at the last moment. They got Ingrid Pitt to fill in. I DIDN'T MIND! She was sitting right next to Veronica Carlson. There you have this incredibly-beautiful woman... and I barely noticed her. I was too busy chatting with Ingrid Pitt. I don't even remember much of what we talked about. But it must have made some kind of impression...
4 years later, I'm at another Chiller. The 1st one had been in a huge gymnasium. Gigantic! High ceilings, endless open space. The 2nd one was in this hotel, events in comparitively small rooms, dealers crammed into narrow hallways. No space at all. There were 3 of us, and one guy got himself lost... JUST like those annoying kids on school trips who disappear, and you waste half the day looking for them. (Idiot.) My best friend and I spent over an hour wandering around looking for the 3rd guy (who later claimed, "What do you mean, I was always right here?" B***S***). So at one point, we were gonna go back outside and back to the car for the 2nd time still looking. We were near this intersection of 2 hallways. At the end of the one, there was this mob of people blocking the hallway. Suddenly, they parted like the Red Sea, and up against the back wall, sitting behind a table, about 20 feet away from where we were, I suddenly see... Ingrid Pitt. She looks up, sees, me, and says...
"Oh, it's so nice to see you again!" *
HOW on Earth did she remember me after 4 years?
So she goes and invites me behind the table to sit down so we can have a nice long chat. Oh my God! I remember that day!
She was a really special lady.
* I put that line in my story, too.

You’re probably right about Space Babies, but since I haven’t seen it I can’t comment. I’d probably rather watch it again than The Church on Ruby Road, but in reality I’d much rather watch something else then either of those stories, although Ingrid Pitt’s cleavage is a reason why the story simply can’t be rated 0. The Time Monster isn’t the only Pertwee I don’t rate very highly though, there’s quite a few to choose from.

Getting back to the topic at hand I shall enjoy rewatching The Greatest Show in the Galaxy when the Season 25 box set turns up (probably September now by the looks of it).

I don't like clowns very much but this figurine is quite cool: (Chief Clown, Doctor Who Figurine Collection Part 147, 2019).

I've got a few of the old Eaglemoss figurines and I'd love that one.

I've got a few of the old Eaglemoss figurines and I'd love that one. The Eaglemoss Doctor Who collection tends to get overshadowed a bit by the more popular Character Option/B&M action figures. Maybe because, unlike action figures, you can only display, and not play with figurines. Also, although Eaglemoss produced some excellent figurines, sometimes the likenesses were quite poor (for instance, Colin Baker looked more like Mark Gatiss!) but they were generally good quality and I enjoyed collecting them. I heard the figurine collection is going to continue. Looking forward to that. merchandise.thedoctorwhosite.co.uk/master-replicas-to-continue-figurine-collection/

I'm sure they won't have fixed the scheduling problem, so, my advice is, watch it between " Remembrance" and " Happiness" and see if it doesn't make WAY MORE SENSE there, where it was supposed to be watched!
When I did this with the Leslie Gore BATMAN story, I was shocked that there were SEVERAL other stories whose continuities were suddenly improved than I realized. (Network execs NEVER consider such things.)

I should have got Silver Nemesis out but this happened instead. Sorry fellas, I didn't like it then and can't get it now either. Can't wait for it to end, so I can watch the specials and move on... Interesting how the cast were beginning to be aware just how much the show seemed to be derided by the BBC high-ups at this time and they were kind-of sniffed at at Elstree it seems where much of this story was made (if I have it right).
