I thought the vampire shown as just a gigantic hand and a shape on a telly monitor really worked, leaving the rest to the imagination.
I think this stands up really well in terms of production design and the costumes.

One of my absolute favourite stories. Thank God for JNT and Moffat refusing to let Boring Bidmead ruin it. Glorious Gothic fun with Tom and Lalla on great form, and K9 actually gets something to do for about the only time in season 18.

I like State of Decay but what exactly is 'The Wasting'?
Kalmar: You know about the Wasting? Doctor: Well, only by hearsay. What is the Wasting? Tarak: The Wasting? Doctor: Yes. Tarak: The Wasting is Tarak: The Wasting. Doctor: Ah.

That's it. It's just some mythical terrible thing the Lords use to keep the villagers in line.

That's it. It's just some mythical terrible thing the Lords use to keep the villagers in line. I get it, but I think Mr. Dicks could have elaborated a bit. You say 'terrible mythical thing' - which is more of an explanation than the episode itself provided. "The Wasting is a time of decay and death, when ancient evil roams the land. Crops wither and die and the beasts of the field perish, while darkness reigns in the hearts of men. Who else can protect us from this living nightmare, except our Lords in the tower? As you might have guessed, I'm not being 100% serious. I'm not really that bothered about The Wasting (or lack of it) - it certainly doesn't spoil my enjoyment of the otherwise excellent State Of Decay. Maybe the Target novelization can provide more info..

Who else can protect us from this living nightmare, except our Lords in the tower? Of course... it's the Lords in the tower who are CAUSING the living nightmare.
And this is more often than not, how things USUALLY are. As, right now, in most countries on this entire planet.

I still can't believe that one of the 2 PBS stations that was running the show around here, the first time around, actually ran seasons 16-18 in production order. Considering, several stories were made out of sequence.
In this case, they ran "State of Decay" BEFORE "Full Circle". I mean, HOW do you even manage to DO that??
I recall they also did the same thing with season 26. Made NO sense at all, and that was only 4 stories jumbled like that.
