That Marshman rising from the swamp cliffhanger made quite an impact with fans at the time I recall. Nice direction, that seems to have made it's budget look much bigger than it probably was? Always thought that the spiders were half-scary, half daft-looking though - in equal measure.

Not seen this one for ages but from what I can remember it's a decent, good looking story. Quite liked the Marshspiders and particularly the Marshmen, thought that bit with them rising up out of the water was bloody great. Loved the nice bit of mystery this one had going on involving the Alzarians, the Marshmen, Marshspiders, Mistfall that had a sorta slight twist to it in the end. Even Adric wasn't bad in this one (though I always kinda felt Varsh should've been the companion)

"Why can't people be nice to one another, just for a change?"
I really like the E-Space Trilogy and there's some bold, clever Sci Fi ideas at work in Full Circle, which is particularly impressive when you consider that author Andrew Smith was just 17 at the time! I love the twist in this story and design wise, the episodes look smashing (the Marshmen are v cool - like descendants of the Creature From The Black Lagoon). Romana moans about not wanting to return to Gallifrey and this is a nice foreshadowing of the character's eventual departure, a few stories later.
Some fans might lament the fact that Full Circle was the serial that introduced us to Adric, that most unloved of Alzarians. However, Matthew Waterhouse really isn't that bad - I know he gets a lot of flak, but to me, he's no more irritating than an awful lot of the modern series companions.
8/10

Visually good in places and a pretty fair story although I can't fully 'bond' with it. I have very mixed feelings indeed for the show's change in tone.
Got to say it all over again - What he heck is the point of Adric (one of JNT's 'boys' apparently, or at least someone who caught his eye). I sympathise with the actor saying he was terrified, but he had no training, was like a rabbit in headlights when put with so much more very experienced actors, had to work closely with Tom which apparently challenged any actor of any pedigree I reckon and was painfully naive it seems, even a few years later when legendary actor Richard Todd was cast. I think it was around this point that Lalla wanted to leave and maybe Tom as well (I'm not at all well-up on this era as I was travelling from work when this was on and didn't have a video recorder as yet.
Sorry JNT, not sure I'm liking your style currently although you're merely a pussy cat compared to the giant ego that is RTD, albeit a determined one...
