Prentiss Hancock, who was likable on the unlikable SPACE: 1999, was such a TOTAL A-HOLE in this... while Ewen Solon, who was a murderous creep in Hammer's HOUND, was the voice of reason. Frederick Jaeger, meanwhile, was merely slightly unhinged (when he wasn't mutating into a psychotic monster). He has a great part in THE AVENGERS episode "Death of a Great Dane" (with Honor Blackman)... but lesser a one in "The Return of the Cybernauts" (with Diana Rigg), and a bit part in "Target!" (with Joanna Lumley).
I suppose it was already getting old when The Doctor turns up and INSTANTLY is suspected of being a murderer by this story. By the time it happened in "The Keeper Of Traken" (also with Tom Baker), it was REALLY annoying, especially as The Keeper himself was the one who INVITED The Doctor to visit Traken in that one. (For an allegedly "civilized" society... Traken really WASN'T.)
