I love Alpha Centauri - and the subplot about how the Doctor gets it spectacularly wrong when he misjudges the Ice Warriors makes this story a bit richer too. I do remember, when it was repeated in 1982 as part of the "Doctor Who and the Monsters" season.... ‘Doctor Who And The Monsters’.....how disappointing Aggedor looked. Rather than a terrifying beast of legend, it was clearly a stunt bloke in a furry fancy dress costume. That aside, I love this story.

I was thrilled to be able to watch this in 1982, but on the whole I think I preferred the Target Book which I read many times.
This is a good solid story, Jon and Katy are on top form and having the Ice Warriors as allies is a nice twist.
8/10

I was thrilled to bits to be getting this to record in 1982 but the quality of episodes three and four wasn't too good and the Scotch tape I used for it soon played up forcing me to copy my recording onto another video tape and as all you home boy recordists probably know about the drop in quality and drop outs which caused the picture to shake was pretty annoying. I copied Pyramids from the BBC tape that I had rented and it came out perfect though like a first generation recording!!! Go figure that out! JB

This was the very first story that I ever recorded on video. But the MASSIVE problem was that I only had one video cassette. So when Genesis and Earthshock were repeated over the following two weeks I was left with the hideous decision of what to keep and what to get rid of. And then what was kept was erased for the new 1983 season. Huge mistake!

As for The Curse Of Peladon itself, it's right up there as my favourite Pertwee adventure, along with The Green Death.

I've always found it quite an enjoyable story. Loved all that Ice Warriors turning out to be the good guys stuff. And have very fond memories of seeing it for the first time as part of those Doctor Who and the Monsters repeats.

"If the committee of assessment judges favourably, then Peladon will join the Galactic Federation"I remember The Curse Of Peladon being one of my favourite Target novelizations, and when I watched it with my wife, many years later on DVD, we both loved it. Peladon's Sci Fi/Medieval setting is a pleasant change from the usual Third Doctor Earthbound/UNIT adventures and it's cool to see David Troughton as King Peladon. Apparently, this tale is a metaphor/allegory for Britain's entry into the Common Market, though back in 1972 I didn't know (or care) about that - I just liked seeing all the funny aliens hanging out together. Oh, and The Curse Of Peladon does rather resemble the Star Trek TOS episode 'Journey To Babel' (the Enterprise is transporting various alien ambassadors to a council on the planet Babel, where they will vote on the admission of the mineral-rich world Coridan to the United Federation of Planets). 8/10

I don’t mind this story.
I saw it on its original transmission, then didn’t see it until the mid 80’s.
We got a lot of Doctor Who repeats, but no Curse in 1982. I would have seen Day of the Daleks about six times by then.
I do love your your little cartoons Future-Diver. They’re great.
