As a child I read the Cave Monsters many times and I did not see the original version until the VHS release in the 1990's.
I have to say it was a bit of a disappointment - too long, dreadful music, and awful Silurian voices and head movements.
Dr Lawrence is way too OTT to be convincing, I'm sure he was more subtlely portrayed in the book.
That said the Silurians is a very important story in the show's history and the regular cast and most of the supporting cast are excellent.
The plague scenes in London stick in the mind.
Strange that the actor who played Evans in Web of Fear had such a small part in this one - not much point in him being in it at all really.
The script is superb but not quite translated effectively to the screen.
8/10
Target book 10/10

Them bloody Kazoos and laughable Silurian head jiggles aside I thought it was a pretty good story,. Quite dark. Mostly kept me glued but at 7 episodes a tad too long perhaps? Didn't mind the acting, loved Fulton Mackay in it and the Silurians (character and costume wise) were well realised.

Colourized by Clayton Hickman Blimey, that's really good. Think it's the best I've seen.
