One of the weaker classic debuts really. Yes, Tom owns the scene right from the beginning but whilst I get the idea of putting the new Doctor in the previous incarnations territory to assure audiences it's the same character, all it does is reinforce how stale the UNIT family take on evil corporations formula had become and is ultimately a rather bland affair. The Robot itself is brilliantly designed and performed and is an interesting character and the regulars rapport with Tom is brilliant but I can't say I'm usually eager to watch it. 5/10
And I did get that K1 jigsaw on the previous page as an Christmas present in 1977 alongside the Day Of The Daleks one (The latter I still own).

100% agree Bowties, the skipping scene is outstanding in my opinion and made me love Tom Baker immediately. Regards HGL.

Well, here we go with another new era. Got to say again that at the time, I didn't care for Tom Baker's delivery (bloody ASD getting in the way no doubt) but today, I totally 'got' him and right from the off, he WAS and of course STILL IS the Doctor in his own way, Gawd bless him and I think I'm going to enjoy his early stories now I'm (a lot) older. I'm nearing the end of this one and feeling incredibly sorry for the robot which, like Hal in 2001 apparently as per the 2010 film, was misused and simply couldn't deal with the deceptions and conflicts fed it (them) by deeply flawed humans. Maybe the production was a bit far fetched, but I'm being carried along by the story well enough
