I tend to think of his Doctor as more of a New Who Doctor now (owing to that Moffat-written finale for him), whereas I used to think of him as more of a Classic Era Doctor (owing really to Sylvester gurning his way through a regeneration).
Good, well cast Doctor though. Shame we never got to see him in a proper TV series, rather than the two book end tales we got.

His era is difficult to follow what with all the books, comics and audio plays that substitute for television episodes . It’s quite hard to keep up with unfortunately.
It’s a shame really because he gives a good performance and I like the romantic side he brings to the Doctor. He definitely regenerates into Christopher Eccleston , as far as I am concerned.

Please enjoy my attached cartoon - back in the late '90s, Paul McGann was my Doctor. It didn't really matter if he'd only appeared in one so-so TV Movie - the 8th Doctor thrived in lots of other mediums (the Big Finish Audio series, the BBC books, the Radio Times comic stories and best of all, the DWM comic strip - this period was anything but a 'wilderness'). McGann was far more convincing in the role than anyone since (certainly more than any of the NuWho lot) and despite it being too Americanised, I still enjoy the TVM. I also like the 8th Doctor's Jules Verne-inspired Tardis console room - very cool.
