A great character superbly played by Nicholas Courtney, particularly in the early Pertwee stories.

Yeah I liked Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. All round nice guy and gentleman.
Certainly I preferred him to that other twat, the Brigade-Leader Lethbridge-Stewart.

Nicholas Courtney narrates and pops up in this a couple of times (around 4:47 and 11:28)...

I've always said, he was my favorite supporting character on DOCTOR WHO.
Following the 2 movies, here in America, my 1st exposure to the show was "The Silurians". I read many years later that, at the time (early-mid 70s), seasons 7-9 had been syndicated to America, but, in Philadelphia, they only ran "The Silurians" to "Day of the Daleks". That's pretty much 2 seasons, not 3 (more or less). As "Spearhead From Space" was virtually the PILOT to a whole new tv series (almost), how absurd was it to SKIP that one???
And The Doctor (Jon Pertwee) was so often a stuck-up guy with a bad attitude and a chip on his shoulder, it seemed to me he didn't really start to relax and become a nicer person until "Day of the Daleks", so I missed several stories where I might have liked him better.
I also used to joke, "When the recurring bad guy is MORE charming & likable than the hero, SOMETHING'S wrong!"
