Another one that Target Books caused some confusion for me.... The wrong Cyberman on the cover in my introduction to this story. (Although the interior illustrations depicted the correct version). So it was another one that I had to mentally reframe when I finally saw the two existing episodes on the "Cybermen: The Early Years" VHS tape.... As a story I love it. Yes, it is pretty much a remake of "The Tenth Planet", but the march of the Cybermen across the lunar surface is great stuff. Troughton calms down and gets more powerful with the actor playing Hobson to act against. Still not a fan of the Cyber-voices though. Too Punch and Judy for my liking - and sometimes incomprehensible.

I remember getting the book of this back in 76 and hoping it was The Invasion but it wasn't! Still I loved the Troughton Cybermen and their plans of attacking the moon in order to cause havoc on earth's weather systems! The DVD episode three was fantastic with The Cybermen almost looking real in comparison to the actual episode if ever returned! Does anyone know if the DVD of the story was given a further spruicing enhancement compared to the Missing Episodes DVD from earlier in the range? JB

I remember getting the book of this back in 76 and hoping it was The Invasion but it wasn't! You're obviously a fan of The Invasion, so out of interest, when that book was novelised by Ian Marter just under 10 years after The Moonbase, did you read it and what did you think of it? (Sorry, I know this is The Moonbase thread. Crossed threads I know.)

It was novelised far later than it should have been I think and I don't recall that much about it other than the Nykortny base thing which I knew was a play on The Brigadier actor Nick Courtney's name! JB

An important story this, as it's the time that the Trought establishes himself in the role, he starts to shine. Regards HGL.

I don't know if anyone else has ever noticed this but the Cybermen's Cannon on the surface of the moon is very, very similar to their super spaceship which approached Nerva Beacon in Revenge of The Cybermen! A similar design of Cyber technology story wise or someone found it in a cupboard and knew it was something to do with the Cybermen and thought it might be one of their spaceships? JB

JB I'll have to dig out the DVD and give it a rewatch (it's been awhile). What about this one? Twitter

Normally I think this sort of thing is all a bit of a wank done by people with far too much time on their hands, but that looks really bloody good.
Should be waiting for the 4K box sets then?
